Last Night's Storms
Last night's tornados were not near our home, but it was still a little nerve-wracking when the straight line winds and "wall of water" hit the house. Michael and I were sitting together on the couch watching the tv weather reports. More than once we looked out the windows when we heard loud, ominous sounds.
Today, during my walk, I got to see the damage in our neighborhood. Limbs down. A collapsed fence. A few trees uprooted, including one of the old ones in my favourite grove in Edgemere Park (all of the trees in this grove survived the ice storm). I spent some time touching the tree and walking around it, grieving its loss.
A block away from our house a tree uprooted and came down on a house. That must have been one of the noises we heard.
Ever since the ice storm so many trees are weakened and misshapen and each major wind storm does more damage. The sadness continues.
Scott,
Sorry to report unable to e-mail you through your church website. I am currently using a Cyber Cafe which doesnt have an installed mail client (think outlook) instead I must use my web based email service Hotmail, Gmail, etc... besides I am sure after contacting you through this site I will be added to watch list at the NSA, CIA, DHS, DOD, FBI,DSIA.... and other organizations with names fished out a bowl of acronym soup.
At the present I am finishing up my last minute taskers and undertaking the daunting task of packing up my stuff. How on earth we went to war before the invention of RFI gear (google it) is beyond me. I estimate nearly 300 pounds, most of it being body armor. The rest an assortment of other personal equipment designed to make one more functional in perhaps the most treacherous environment on earth.
Storm winds and such set aside... I miss green grass. Holy land I think not, at least not from my vantage point. How I miss green green grass and summer in Oklahoma!

Well, we will hope you are home soon on this green grass.
BTW, have you read Tim O'Brien's The Things They Carried?
